Our Goals
We have a deep concern for the "whole" child and feel that each area of development is of equal importance & academic, social, physical, and emotional growth. Children will work in areas of practical life, sensorial, mathematics, and language. In addition, there is music, art, Spanish, motor development, and nature study. All equipment is designed to serve a special function and is used in a special way. We refer to our activities as "work" as opposed to "play." We feel this is an important distinction and connotes the proper respect and dignity the children develop for their activities. We strive to help the individual child develop fully through his work. The following are our school goals: - A real joy of learning
- Independence
- Self-confidence
- Self-discipline
- Ability to learn through his own discoveries
- Appreciation of silence
- Concentration
- Attachment to reality
- Love of order
- Ability to choose
- Mastery of basic skills
The aim of these goals is the development of respect for self, others, and things and is fundamentally carried out in nine different domains.
